As part of my research to aid me when creating my magazine I have created a survey using survey monkey to allow me to understand the general market. When creating the survey I included questions such as 'How much are you willing to pay for a magazine' and 'Whats your favourite magazine genre?'. I included these types of questions to make sure I am able to make the best possible magazine that attract my chosen target audience and allow me to include parts to a magazine that they wish to see. When making the magazine I used all closed questions that were multiple choice as it will allow me to understand groups better including the majority or what people are wanting to see in the magazine. Production Log
Production Log -
For the last few weeks of media I have began my research and planning into the creation of my own magazine.I have began the tasks of codes and conventions of a typical music magazine on powerpoint then scribd my work and uplaoding to my blog.Within the presentation i have used example magazines and explained in depth what the codes and conventions are. When researching the codes and conventions it has allowed me to understand a typical music magazine and what i need to include in my own magazine to make it as successful as possible. This part of the research i found easy due to reading up on the codes and conventions as well as having a class discussion about what would be included in certain magazines and why.
Once i had completed the codes and conventions i thought it be a good idea to begin with the anaylis of the front cover and contents page for homework, giving myself two weeks to complete it on top of my class work which i have dedicated to the planning side of my magainze.I used microsoft word to present my work as i felt it should be formal and neat being easy to read. Due to completeing the codes and conventions of a music magazine first i also found this opart of the coarsework easy and completed it within the two weeks i set myself, giving myself a chance to begin a different peice of work that will get me closer to my final magazine.
I have also completed a mood board for homework and have explained the use of some pictures i have used within the work, which have allowed me to express the type of reader that would like my magazine and why, presenting what their likes and interests are and how they will be included or represnted within my magaizne. This has aided in the beginging of my proposal with the explination of my chosen target audience.This was extremly easy as i had a rough idea of the typical reader that would use my magazine. I used my own likes and Rolling Stone magazine to aid me in making the mood board, basing the reader on myself and a typical Rolling Stone reader.
On top of this within lesson i have began my proposal which i am comleting for next week and uploading to my blog, as well as i have used Prezi to arrange and explain my magazine name ideas. I used prezi to make my blog seem more interesting as well as it be a fun and easy way to present all the name ideas i accumilated. Within the name ideas i used a simple list with the name ideas, with some extended using the fonts as well to allow me to picture the masthead alot clearer. This means when it comes to the making of my magazine i will have a clear idea of what i want it to look like. Ihave explained some of my choices and the reasonging behind my final masthead decision. I enjoyed this task and finsihed it within a reasonable time limite in lesson and it has also allowed me to make my blog more interesting.
I have now set myself he work of my proposal to finish by next week and upload to my blog and the double page anaylsis pf three magazines.
