Magazine One

When looking at my second draft of the music magazine i am creating i have seen some areas of improvement which i feel will make my magazine seem more realistic as well as professional as a music magazine that relates and responds to my target audience perfectly.

Firstly, i am happy with the front cover i have created as i feel it fits its purpose perfectly, framing the models face and having an even balance of attention towards the image as well as the sell lines. I have used a consistent colour scheme of red and gold as i feel the connotations of wealth, power and passion are positive for my magazine. Furthermore, standing out against the black and white image i have chosen and editted to have high contrast to make the magazine unique. The black and white image allows the magazine to seem like a classic, well known music magazine with a twist due to the high contrast. I have used impact as the font for my sell lines to make sure they are readable and bold. Furthermore, at first i incorporated a stroke within the text yet as i carried on creating the magazine i felt that the stroke was not typical of a rock magazine, having connotations more towards pop music and young children due to the rounded, flowing edges. I feel that the front cover is my strongest eliment so far that relates to my target audienceof males between the ages of 16 and 25 due to not using gender specific colours such as pinks or blues, meaning like Q or NME i will also be able to attract my secondary audience being females of the same age range.

When looking at my contents page i have began to create i am happy with the layout i have chosen due to one being able to easily navigate around the page with the information clear, as well as the pictures standing out and making the page seem interesting. The pictures i have used are relevant to the articles i have included, yet i feel i have used to many studio images within my contents page which for a rock magazine seem unrealistic, putting the audience of reading the magazine as it wont be a typical rock magazne they would want to read. To improve this page with the pictures i believe i need to have an even blance of studio and live shots, making the page seem as colourful and bright as possible. I have carried on the colour scheme of red and gold with panels at the top of the page to make the magazine seem consistent throughout even during thr article as well as frame the page and make it seem more professional.

The images i have used i shall layout like a collage to make the page seem interesting and split the text up meaning it is easy to read. I have used grey within this page as well to make sure that the page has depth due to gold being unsuitable. I have used two different fonts when typing up the articles to make the title seem bold as well as the page number compared to the phrase underneath. The pull quote i have used with Leah's images i feel is successful due to highlighting she is the main artist this months issue. Within all my pictures i feel they are successuful due to the artists not smiling connoting the genre clearly and relating to the audience highlighting this magazine is serious for the music and not gossip. When further looking at the contents oage i have realised that i have not included important information such as the subcribtion or facebook and twitter logo in the bottom logo. This is vital information to make the magazine have a relationship wih its readers therefore i have made sure i have included this when i am next working on the magazine.

The double page spread i have created i feel has got to much text on the poages therefore i need to include more images and pull quotes to make the article as bold as possible.
